GATHERROUND.COM

Project: GatherRound.com, sponsored by Intel and Kodak, was one of the first photo-sharing web sites on the Internet. The challenges were to accommodate both novice and advanced users, allow people to convey what was most important about their photos, and allow people to communicate about their photos.

Method: I started out by interviewing target users and understanding what their desires and concerns were about sharing photos on the web. Using this information, I then developed UI requirements and began to create a site map and page specs. I then conducted usability tests on the site as it develops. Test results were fed back into the design. The end result was a photo-sharing site that gave users lots of flexibility in manipulating and communicating about their photos.
